Ecuador

  I travelled briefly through Ecuador in 2006 on my way to meet friends in Peru after our ski expedition in Columbia. I didn't get to stay nearly as long as I would have liked but it did capture me in the brief time I spent there. One of the highlights for me was the volcanoes and watching them grumble and spit forth ash and debris. 6 weeks after visiting though, one of the villages where I had been sitting watching the volcano Tungurahua? was severely damaged and suffered a loss of life due to pyroclastic flows after a major eruption.
